Beginner method — overview¶
This method solves the cube layer by layer, from the bottom up. It needs six algorithms in total, two of which are mirror images of each other.

Three pieces of advice before you start¶
Don't try to understand the algorithms
Steps 1 to 3 are done by reasoning: you see where the piece goes, you put it there. Steps 4 to 7 use algorithms: there, you apply them without asking why. Understanding comes from repeating them, not from staring at them.
Finish each step completely before moving on
Every step assumes the previous one is entirely done. An "almost right" white cross ruins everything that follows.
A cube that looks impossible
If you reach the end with one single flipped edge, or one single twisted corner, it is not your mistake: your cube was taken apart and reassembled the wrong way. See Troubleshooting.
The starting position¶
You hold the cube with the white centre on the bottom and the yellow centre on top. These two centres will not move again until the end.
